Obama Wins so that means what exactly

Obama Wins… so that means what exactly I posted this this morning to my LinkedIn Group: I typically stay away from politics, religion and that other thing that is inappropriate for this medium but today is an historic day. Four years ago, on Nov 7th, after the world learned Obama was going to be POTUS, JibberJobber saw record signups. It wasnt marginally more it was huge amounts of people coming to JibberJobber. They were concerned about their future. their jobs, their careers. They made the first step to take charge of their personal economics. They were worried the U.S. and world economy was going to go in the wrong direction. It is too early to know how the next few months will be, but Im guessing well have more-than-average signups on JibberJobber. On Facebook a CFO I like said said something like if you lost (in other words, if you were a Romney supporter), it wont be as bad as you might think, and if you won (if you are an Obama supporter), it wont be as great as you think. Is it as simple as that? Is it business as normal? For you, it is. For you, it is time to do what you need to do for career management. For years Ive traveled the U.S. talking about Career Management. In short, it is made up of your branding and your networking. Are you ready, yet, to be more in control of YOUR career? Start today by joining my webinar at 7pm EST (4pm PST). Regardless of who won, you still need to manage your own career. Empower yourself:  www.JibberJobber.com/webinar No HR manager, boss, company, or even POTUS is going to provide you career management or personal financial success or security. It starts with YOU. Why Signage is Still Important for Every Business

Why Signage is Still Important for Every Business Why Signage is Still Important for Every Business When launching a business, one thing overlooked by many owners it the importance of signage. Creating an attractive sign for your business is a key important visual element. Along with building your brand, signs also act as an inanimate salesperson for your business. Why Signage is Important for Businesses How important is signage for a business? Two studies â€" one commissioned by FedEx Office in partnership with Ketchum Global Research Analytics and one by the University of Cincinnati â€" found that: 67% of consumers said they purchased a service or product because a sign caught their attention (FedEx). 76% of consumers said they entered a store or business they had never visited because of its monument signs (FedEx). About 60% of consumers said the absence of signs deterred them from entering a business or store (FedEx). 38% of large companies with multiple locations said branding/image is the most important purpose of effective signage, while small firms and single establishments believed signs are the most important for making the business stand out (UC). About 75% of consumers said they told others about a business simply based on its signage (FedEx). Nearly 68% of consumers believe that a company’s sign reflects the quality of its services or products (FedEx). About 60% of businesses said changing the design or enhancing their sign’s visibility had a positive impact on the number of sales, transactions and profits, with an average increase of 10% (UC). According to consumers and businesses, legibility was the most important characteristic of signs (UC). These surveys show that signage is important for every business. Consumers don’t trust a business without a sign. They serve as a form of credibility. Sign Location While signage is important, the location of the sign is even more important. The key most important thing is to ensure that your sign can be seen by those driving and walking by. A sign above the door and out in the front of the parking lot, as is common with a shopping plaza, will help customers find your business. It will also help them become familiar with your location. While a sign at your actual place of business is practical and common sense, signs can also be effective in other locations. For example, a sign at a busy intersection would be effective for attracting commuters who have to sit in traffic, staring at the sign for your business. Size is Important, Too Size is also important when it comes to signage, but we’re not just talking about the overall size of the sign. It’s also important to consider the size of the sign in comparison to the objects around us and the writing on the sign itself. Sometimes, bigger isn’t better. A sign that is too big can be distracting and take away from your brand’s message. There may also be restrictions imposed by the local government, and there are federal regulations related to outdoor advertising as well. It’s important to think carefully about the type of sign you’ll use. Conventional signs are more economical, but digital signs give you the opportunity to change your brand’s logo and identity in the future without having to start from scratch.

Telling a Difficult Story

Telling a Difficult Story Embed from Getty Imageswindow.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'pXkZnDQEQ3BmOsvEBXcfOw',sig:'n-WEobtWqU7dXr4yj_LRQueKowqsqZ0SQS_ruprqeJs=',w:'508px',h:'339px',items:'717154977',caption: false ,tld:'com',is360: false })}); Many jobseekers have a back story that makes it challenging to compete for jobs. If you’re one of them, having been fired from a former job, having personal or financial problems, or having a criminal background, the idea of handling the story in an interview is probably keeping you up at night. Career coaches tell us that there is a formula for success in telling a difficult back story.   One thing everyone agrees on is that you must be truthful about what happened.   Never, under any circumstances, lie about your background on an application or in an interview.   Employers may give you a chance if you share your story openly and appropriately, but they will almost certainly fire you for lying to get the job.   Being up front is better for you, too, even if you get passed over for the job.   It’s better to be turned down at the beginning than to worry about being discovered for months or years on the job â€" no one would want that hanging over their head every day at the office. Once you decide to disclose your story, there are some general rules that will help your case with a potential employer.   First, keep it short.  Practice telling your story until you can include only the essential facts.   No long lead up, no messy and excruciating details, and no rambling excuses; just the facts.   “I went through a difficult divorce, and would up having to file personal bankruptcy.”   “I committed a crime when I was 20 and wound up serving a 15 month sentence.”   Make it as brief as you can.   Follow it up with “It’s painful to discuss it, but I know you’d want to know. I will answer any questions you feel you need to ask.” Here are some things that will not help you when you tell your story: How it wasn’t your fault How evil, wrong and unfair the other parties were Talking about other issues that won’t affect your employment â€" stick to what matters right now. Here are some things that will help your case: Taking responsibility and expressing regret: “I know it was a foolish move, and I feel very bad about the effect it had on my family and my career.” Talking about what you learned: “I made it a point to enroll in financial planning classes, and now work from a strict family budget.   My personal finances are finally under control.” Talking about what will happen if you get a second chance: “I am working hard to convince a company to take a chance on me.   I plan to make that chance count as a new start for my career.”

Manufacturing, Which Of These Three Processes Are Right For You

Manufacturing, Which Of These Three Processes Are Right For You Converting raw materials into marketable and sellable products is the heart of many businesses across the world. While the concept behind an idea is all down to the business owner and their team, making that idea a reality often relies on the ability to manufacture it effectively. Of course, most businesses don’t have a dedicated manufacturing facility joined to their offices or anywhere in the country for that matter. Most companies choose to outsource their manufacturing to highly specialized manufacturing companies, to ensure that their products are created to an exceptionally high standard. While it’s all well and good choosing a manufacturing plant, what a lot of businesses struggle with is deciding which manufacturing process is right for them. While the manufacturing company that you are working with can advise you, it’s worthwhile taking the time to get to grips with the different processes available and which could be the best fit for your business and product that needs making. Want to know what these processes are? Then read on for a guide to the three more commonly used manufacturing processes. Laser cutting Laser manufacturing is becoming increasingly popular, due to the specialist processes available. Laser specialists like LaserLight.com, for instance, are able to offer a wide range of lasering services that have been designed to perfectly meet the needs of various businesses in a range of industries. How it works is simple: the laser beam is focused to the right size and directed onto the material, which it can then be set to melt, burn, vaporize, or engrave, creating the desired shape and finish. Laser cutters can be used to cut flat-sheet materials, as well as on 3D structures, such as piping. 3D Printing Within the manufacturing industry, 3D printing is becoming increasingly common. 3D printing is popular because it’s a form of fully automated manufacturing where an image is put into a computer, along with the specifications for it, and then the computer prints a 3D version of this image. How these printers work is by turning a whole object into thousands of tiny slices, building the object from the bottom up, slice by tiny slice. These slices stick together and form the finished object. 3D printers are able to create extremely complex structures, including moving parts like hinges. Molding Molding, also known as injection molding, is a basic manufacturing process where plastic (or another material) is melted into the injection molding machine and then injected into a mold under a high pressure. Then, the material is cooled, allowed to solidify, and is then released from the mold. This is how all manner of items are created, from toys for children to car parts. When it comes to choosing a manufacturing process for your company’s product, there is a lot to consider. You need to not only think about which manufacturing process is best for the product and will offer the highest quality results, but also about the cost of the manufacturing process, because in business good financial management is key.
